A pet panel typically takes two to three pounds per square foot, and a putting surface takes several times that. Ask any installer what product they plan to use and how many pounds per square foot they will actually apply.

Is Artificial Grass a Good Surface for Dogs?

For most households, yes, and it is often the reason the project starts. Dogs stop tracking mud indoors, and the worn dirt paths along the fence line disappear. Liquid passes straight through a flow-through backing into the base and drains away with rainwater.

Odor control comes down to three details: a flow-through backing, an antimicrobial infill and a base that actually drains. Solids get picked up as usual, and a monthly enzyme rinse handles the rest.
